Cybersecurity in Horizon Europe

The European Union's Framework Program for Research and Innovation "Horizon Europe", with a funding volume of 95.5 billion euros for a period of 7 years (2021 - 2027), is the world's largest single funding program for research and innovation. Horizon Europe addresses funding measures with the aim of strengthening the European research landscape, driving innovation and finding answers to current and future societal challenges.

Horizon Europe therefore covers a wide range of research and innovation activities.

Cybersecurity is an important part of this range of topics in Horizon Europe, as increasing networking and digitalization also increase the need to protect IT infrastructures and services from cyber threats.

Cybersecurity measures are anchored primarily in Horizon Europe in "Cluster 3: Civil Security for Society". The funding measures in "Cluster 3" are intended to help promote the use of innovative digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence, cryptography or quantum technologies, in order to increase data security and cyber security. In addition, Europe's industrial capacities in the area of cyber security are to be strengthened and technological sovereignty increased.
